inquiry
skills. Join the Diack Ecology Education Program at the National Science Teachers
convention for one or both of the following sessions on
Friday
November 21st in
Room B 119, Oregon Convention Center 777 NE MLK Portland, OROregon participants will receive field equipment
worth $50
and information on classroom equipment grants up to $2000
Fostering Ecosystem-based Inquiry
Morning Session
Learn to foster students’ curiosity about the world around them and
facilitate the development of meaningful investigations. Ideas for
helping students develop specific key questions, isolate variables
and select appropriate methods will be included along with the use
of science notebooks to document the inquiry process.
Authentic Outdoor Field Investigations
Afternoon Session
Develop student-driven investigations of nature that have meaning
for your students and community. Learn from fellow K-12 teachers
about their work in the classroom and field to help students develop
science investigations that benefit the community. Grant funding of
up to $2,000 from the Diack Program for classrooms in Oregon will be
discussed in depth along with strategies for establishing
appropriate community partnerships.
